I’m looking forward to being out of lockdown, getting back to some sort of normality and the summer, but what I’m not looking forward to is dressing myself! I don’t know about anyone else but living the lockdown life for so long I think I have forgotten how to style my wardrobe for summer and have no clue what is in fashion anymore?! I’ve been thinking hard about this and want to help you regain your summer style.
I feel that I need to be lifted and inspired by my clothes to get back into the real world and ready for socialising. Luckily I don’t tend to follow fashion trends too closely. As with my interior style, my fashion choices lean more towards timeless and classic pieces, with of course a Nordic edge.
We’ve had a few family trips away already this year so I have been looking at summer style ideas and what key clothing pieces could work as we head back into normality. I have put together some tips if you are also lacking in confidence with what to wear this year.
Pick a Staple and Versatile Dress
First up is the Hoffman Copenhagen Jeanne Dress in White
This is just a great white summer dress. It’s a complete staple and has an oversize silhouette and ¾ length sleeves. It’s perfect for casual summer days, holidays and evenings out as it can be dressed up or down.
If you want a dress with a bit more going on the Sleeper Atlanta Linen Dress in Daisies is also one of my top picks. It’s still white but has a muted daisy pattern. I have this dress in Mimosa print which unfortunately is no longer available but the Daisies print is very similar.
It’s linen so it’s super comfortable but can work for different summer occasions. Again, can be dressed up or down and this is what you need to look for. It’s an investment to have a dress that can be worn for a wedding but equally you can throw on for work drinks.
If you are looking for a similar style on a smaller budget, these two dresses from H&M are also great options.
This Poplin maxi dress in white is sleek with thin straps that will transcend day to night.
This linen blend dress with lovely floral pattern is voluminous and elegant, the perfect dress style for summer.
Use Footwear to Dress Up or Down
All of the dresses can be dressed up or down, so footwear is key. I’m currently loving these Veja Beige Trainers. They are casual, for a dressed down look, but still smart. A great choice for a summer outfit. I also like this brand because they are very innovative with their manufacturing and really trying to reduce the chemicals and water used in their processes.
Veja Beige Rio Branco Trainers
I also recently bought these Adidas Originals in brown which are an alternative. If you prefer a casual sandal for your daytime look I can’t wait to get these Dr. Martens Blair Sandals back out of my wardrobe!
For dressing up I’m not one for huge heels and glitzy sandals, I still like a relaxed feel when going out, so I really like these H&M Premium Selection Leather Mules. They are sophisticated and smart without being over the top. Paired with any of the dresses would be a great summer evening look or wedding outfit.
Accessorise to Complete the Look and Show Your Personality
Accessories can make or break an outfit! I love summer accessories, especially bags and anything straw or wicker gets my vote. I spotted this Jigsaw Holme Straw Mini Bag and I think it would work really well with the outfits so far. This bag would work in the day and in the evening too. This bag is handcrafted meaning each one is unique, so you know this bag will be individual to you.
The finishing touch to any outfit has to be your jewellery. I think your jewellery says a lot about you as a person and will help you regain your summer style. I was so excited when I found out that Dina Tokio was doing a collaboration with Rachel Jackson Jewellery. The range is stunning and you can see it all here

I love the minimal style of Dina’s jewellery but the luxe gold feel of this collection is perfect for topping off your summer outfit. I particularly like this gold personalised coin necklace.

My final tip to regain your summer style after lockdown is to invest in a good pair of sunglasses. You know you are going to need them all year round and will style up any outfit. I treated myself to a new pair of Ray-Bans and it felt so good to be out in the sun wearing them!
